Introduction to the Present Perfect Tense

  • Structure: Subject + have/has + Past participle
  • The common usage of the present perfect in business scenarios:
    • Talking about experiences (e.g., “I have worked with international clients.”)
    • Describing achievements (e.g., “We have increased our sales by 20%.”)
    • Discussing unfinished actions (e.g., “She has not finished the report yet.”)

Examples:

  • “I have completed the financial report.”
  • “We have launched the new product.”
  • “They have not signed the contract yet.”

Rules for Using “Have” and “Has”:

  • Have” is used with I, you, we, they.

Examples:

  • I have completed the report.
  • You have met the new manager.
  • We have launched a new product.
  • They have signed the contract.

 

  • “Has” is used with he, she, it and singular nouns.

Examples:

  • He has finished the presentation.
  • She has organized the meeting.
  • It has been a successful year.
  • The company has expanded into new markets.

Activity: Writing business emails. On a separate sheet of paper write a short email to your boss or a colleague, using the Present Perfect Tense describing your recent work activities and accomplishments. (80-120 words aprox).
