Basic Business Vocabulary

Some Basic Vocabulary: 

  • Company – A business or organization that sells goods or services.
  • Manager – A person who is in charge of other employees and makes decisions.
  • Employee – A person who works for a company.
  • Meeting – A gathering of people to discuss something.
  • Office – The place where people work, usually in a building.
  • Report – A document that gives information about something.
  • Client – A person or organization that buys services from a company.
  • Project – A task or set of tasks that need to be completed.
  • Schedule – A plan of things to do and when to do them.
  • Deadline – The date or time by which something must be done.
  • Boss – The person who tells other people what to do at work.
  • Team – A group of people who work together.
  • Task – A piece of work that needs to be done.
  • Salary – The money you earn from your job.
  • Job – The work you do to earn money.
  • Work – The tasks or activities that you do as part of your job.
  • Email – A message sent electronically from one person to another.
  • Desk – A piece of furniture where you sit and work, usually with a computer.
  • Computer – A machine that you use to do work, send emails, and find information.
  • Colleague – A person you work with.

Walt Disney and His Company

Walt Disney was a famous man who started The Walt Disney Company. He began as a cartoon artist and created Mickey Mouse in 1928. Mickey Mouse became very popular and helped Walt Disney build his company.

One of Walt Disney’s first big successes was a movie called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, made in 1937. This movie was special because it was the first full-length animated film. Many people loved it, and it made Disney even more famous.

Walt Disney also opened Disneyland, a theme park where families could enjoy rides and meet Disney characters. Today, The Walt Disney Company is known all over the world for its movies, theme parks, and TV shows. Walt Disney wanted to create fun and magical experiences for people of all ages.
